Library
The library plays a prominent role in developing literacy and promoting reading for pleasure.
Librarian: Mrs Claire Roberts
Opening times: 8.30am - 3.45pm
Our school library is the heart of Neston’s reading community and contributes hugely to a whole school ethos of promoting ‘Reading for All’. The library provides a multitude of resources to support study and reading for enjoyment for all students and staff.
The library is on the first floor and is open to students at break and lunch times. Students in Key Stage Three have a library lesson once a fortnight as part of their English curriculum. The library is a safe and happy space for all! Students can study and read independently, complete school work on the computers, catch up with friends, engage in some mindful colouring activities or choose their next book.
We have regular author visits and book signing opportunities for our students and these are always extremely popular and a brilliant way of promoting reading.
Our library shelves are well stocked with fiction and non-fiction books. Departments are encouraged to guide students to the library for wider academic reading material to develop their subject knowledge. In addition to physical books, we also have a virtual library for ebooks, audio books and magazines. This is available via the Sora app and students can login with their normal school login details.
Our Library catalogue is also available to students. Accessit can show students what books we have available, reserve and renew and find links to appropriate internet resources for extended reading. Accessit logins are available via Mrs Roberts in the Library.
The library is a whole school resource and is available to all. We are determined to ensure we do everything we can to promote a love of reading across our school and wider community.
