Our Sixth Form
I am delighted to welcome your son/daughter to Neston High School Sixth Form. At Neston, we pride ourselves in creating a Sixth form experience which sets students on a successful pathway for their future lives. The Sixth Form team work closely alongside a committed and experienced team of teachers and tutors to ensure that students achieve academically and are offered unique opportunities to develop personally.
At Neston we offer students a parallel programme of UCAS and VTAS support, and challenge students in building an academic and personal profile which develops outstanding leadership qualities, allowing them to fulfil their potential to be the very best they can be. Students are offered the chance to complete an EPQ, join the Pathways Programme, as well as attend the Villier’s Park academic excellence programme. We encourage students to participate in exchange programmes to countries such as South Africa, Spain, Denmark and France and complete relevant work experience placements to enhance and develop personal skills and make a contribution to society. Sixth Form students are expected to build upon the excellent relationships forged in lower school through engagement in the peer mentoring programme, student leadership opportunities and to act as a role model for younger students.
Our students have access to a Learning Resource Centre where they can work independently in study periods, computer suites in the Sixth Form building and the main school and have their own common room area with ‘The Bistro’ where a range of hot foods and drinks are provided. This is an exciting time to be studying at Neston High School. As you will be aware, we will move into our new state of the art building in September 2017. Facilities in the new school building include a bespoke Sixth Form resource centre, a common room, numerous computer suites and a spacious refectory where students can dine and study.
Outstanding support and guidance is a key feature of our Sixth Form and students’ attendance and academic progress is closely monitored to facilitate outstanding progress. As a parent/carer we will keep you updated with your son/daughter’s progress and invite you to contact the school should you have any concerns. We do not underestimate the importance of building strong relationships with parents and feel that it is vital to work together to best support our students. Whilst supporting students is integral to their success, we expect students to take an independent approach to their learning and take responsibility in their time management, organisation, attendance and progress in lessons. At Neston High School Sixth Form, we are excited to work with our sixth form students in their transition into adulthood and encourage every student to embrace opportunity and fulfil their potential, to enable them to maximise their potential and reach high quality destinations.
