FAQ

What clothing should our child wear?

There is no requirement for students to wear school uniform during this week.  Casual, comfortable clothing and a pair of trainers is fine for all the activities.  If you have purchased a house hoodie and have not collected it these will be available on the Monday morning at break time. If your child would like to wear a T-shirt/top in the appropriate house colour, this might be nice to assist with furthering the house identity, but it is by no means compulsory.  Please ensure that any garment they are likely to take off, is named.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We are hoping to get fine weather during the week so we can have some of our activities outside.  Should it look like rain, please pack a named waterproof coat or jacket for your son/daughter.  If it looks like it will be hot and sunny, they should bring some sort of hat (eg a baseball cap), and sun cream, which they will need to apply themselves.

What happens for food/lunches?

Students should bring with them a packed lunch and drink for each day. There will be no facility to purchase lunch on site.  We will provide a drink for break-time if necessary, and students will have access to water throughout the day.

What if my child had a medical condition?

It is important that you provide us with any relevant medical information for your child.  You will have already given some medical information via the Passport to Neston registration form, however, please be aware that if your child has a medical condition, and you have not yet done so, we will need you to complete a Health Care Plan and consent form to administer medication.  If your child requires medication, please place this in a plastic see through bag with a label on the front with the student's name and date of birth.  Students who have Adrenaline Auto Injector (EPI) pen should carry this with them, we do have an emergency stock of EPI pens in school.  Please email me at pp2n@nestonhighschool.com for a relevant form to be sent to you that requires completion if this relates to your child.

If your child does have a medical condition, we will ask you to introduce yourself to our First Aider, Mrs Sheri Shingler, at the first registration on Monday morning.  She will have a separate desk at the registration point.

What equipment should our child bring?

All the equipment that will be needed for the week will be provided by the school.  Your child may want to bring a pencil case with them. Please make sure these items are named e.g. bag, lunch box, etc.  We would advise against your child bringing a mobile phone to school.  If they do choose to bring one, they will need to keep it in their bags for the whole day, in line with the expectations from September.
