No debate about it – these guys can argue!

On March 4th, Neston’s English department sent a team of intrepid year 9 and 10 students into intellectual battle at Upton-by-Chester High School.

Although there was no repeat of last year’s victory in the county-wide competition (they weren’t going to allow us to win two on the trot, were they?), the fantastic five – Ellie Carus, Erin Spilsbury, Jack Stokes, Peteralan Tudball and Charlie Zost-Hughes – acquitted themselves admirably. The team enjoyed the sweet smell of success along the way, and only lost narrowly twice: once to the eventual winners (Queen’s Park) and again to the runners-up (Upton-by-Chester) … by all of 0.66 of a single point!

Mr Phillips and Miss White were nominally in charge, but the real work in preparing the team was undertaken by our wonderful mentors, Kieran Mincher and Luke Parkinson from year 13.
