"Bugsy Malone" Production.

I am writing to invite you to the School production of ‘Bugsy Malone’, by Alan Parker, a family show that will really get you singing and dancing in the aisles!

It features students from Years 7 to 13 as actors, singers and dancers and the piece has everything you could want in a show written specifically for school age children. We have a script that uses an ‘American Gangsters in the 1920s Prohibition era’ storyline its base, but it is set up as a rivalry between kids acting like adults rather than the bloodthirsty real deal!

Our heroes are the likeable ‘Jack of all trades’ Bugsy, the ingenue dreaming of Hollywood stardom, Blousey, the hopeless hoodlum Fat Sam and his Gang of Dumb Bums, his Grand Slam Speakeasy performers, Cagey Joe & his Boxers, Leroy & the Down and Outs.
Our baddies are the debonair, but dastardly Dandy Dan (Boo!) and his Gang of Hoodlums. They have created a new weapon – the Splurge Gun – and are trying to destroy Fat Sam, his Grand Slam Speakeasy and all his businesses. Fat Sam tries to fight this and uses his ‘Moll’ & headline act at the Speakeasy, Tallulah, to persuade Bugsy to help him out of this mess, but all does not go to plan – especially as Bugsy is trying to impress the new girl in town, Blousey …!
It doesn’t help that the Gangland warfare is being investigated by two police officers thicker than a plate of Momma’s leftover lasagne – Smolsky and O’Dreary – Chicago’s finest they ain’t!  If you love the film and love the tunes & routines – ‘Bugsy Malone’,‘Fat Sam’s Grand Slam’, ‘Tomorrow’, ‘Bad Guys’, ‘My Name is Tallulah’ ‘So you Wanna Be a Boxer’ ‘Down and Out’ – or you love the knockabout comedy, action and whip smart lines of the script - then get your tickets!

The performance will be in Bushell Hall on Wednesday 20th, Thursday 21st or Friday 22nd November at 7pm. Tickets are £5 and will be on sale from the Finance Office . An email has already been sent with a form for your ticket requests. Money or cheques should be made payable to Neston High School and put in a named envelope via a student in school.

We look forward to seeing you at the show.
