Our KS4 trip to Berlin in March was a huge success. After a long coach journey we spent the first day exploring the area around Alexanderplatz and loved the panoramic view of the city from the TV tower. Our second day was very busy including a 2 hour walking tour from Brandenburg Gate taking in many sights including the German Cathedral and Museum Island. We then spent time remembering the victims of the holocaust at the memorial site before moving on to Potsdamer Platz and the Ku'Damm for some shopping opportunities. Many of the students enjoyed visiting the world famous KaDeWe department store. We then spent the evening enjoying the view from the Reichstag Dome whilst listening to the informative audio guide about its history. It was great to see all the students getting on so well with many of them sampling their first Currywurst! We spent our last day visiting the Berlin Wall museum and Sachsenhausen concentration camp. The students found the experience to be both moving and fascinating – one they will never forget.
