Important update (please pay particular attention if you have a child in Year 9 or Year 12)

Dear Parent / Carers

Due to the ongoing unprecedented events, we are now having to make difficult decisions regarding the ongoing onsite education provision for our students. This is due to the increasing number of staff who are required to be absent.

After careful consideration, we are requesting that students in Year 9 and 12 do not attend school on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March, after which the situation will be reviewed. This absence will not affect their attendance record. In order to support the national emergency response, if you are a front-line emergency worker and require your child to be in school during this initial two-day period, please contact us so we are able to try to support you.

To support our students, all have been given advice on how to access remote learning resources. Further support or guidance, can be found on the school website, under the heading of ‘Remote Learning’. The link for this is:

Due to the numbers of students absent, we are not able to set individualised work and request you do not attend school to pick up any physical resources.

As part of the measures we have had to put in place the decision has been made to postpone the Year 10 exams until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience this may create for our young people.

Further updates will be sent by email and copies will be available on the school website. Please can I remind you we are not able to give medical advice, please refer to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

If you have previously advised us that your child is currently absent due to self-isolation, you should be following the government guidance about when they should return. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-people-with-confirmed-or-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

I appreciate this is a very difficult time for everyone and I would like to thank you for your understanding and support and assure you that these decisions have not been taken lightly.

Yours sincerely
