THE CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

As an Academy, Governors are also called 'Trustees' and meet monthly as a 'Board of Trustees'. The Trustees last year agreed to reduce the number of Trustees and to distinguish between the two key roles of Trustees and Members. The Board currently consists of 12 Trustees, 2 Members and three joint Trustees and members. Together with the Head Teacher they represent parents, staff and the community. They have a wide range of experience and backgrounds, and are united in their determination that the school shall excel academically, in sport and in the arts. They are dedicated to the principles of comprehensive education; that the talents of every student, of whatever ability, will be fully developed.

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

On behalf of the Trustees I would like to welcome you to the 17/18 academic year. We had some really great results last summer of which we are very proud. These outcomes are a result of all the hard work and effort of parents/carers, teachers and most importantly the students. This partnership is essential in creating the right environment to support all young people achieve their maximum potential.

One of the roles of the Trustees is to set the Vision and Strategic direction of the school in order that we can do our best for all students. You can find this document under the 'About us' section of the website.

The vision of Neston High School is that we are the outstanding, inclusive, 11-18 comprehensive school of first choice for all students from the local community. We aim to develop confident learners with the skills to take ownership of their learning, who are proud of their achievements, and are well prepared for life in modern Britain.

While we continue to focus on our 5 strategic priorities of raising standards, maximising potential, ensuring success at transition stages, supporting staff and having robust financial oversight, I’m sure you haven’t failed to notice the new school building that opened in September. This is a really exciting year for Neston High School and a huge opportunity to take and build upon what we already do, in a brand-new building. The capital developments continue with the new astro-pitch due to be finish over the 2018 summer and investment in the recreation centre – all which will add to the feel of an ‘education and sports’ campus.

The Trustees have also taken this opportunity to review our governance structure and to think about both what we do and how we do it. These changes included the reduction in the number of Trustees and moving to a ‘cabinet style’ approach that has enabled us to make more effective and timely decisions.

The Chair and Trustees, individually or collectively, welcome comments. They can be contacted at the school address or by email:chair@nestonhigh.com.
