500 Words- the Live Lesson
A huge congratulations and thanks to all pupils who took part in the BBC Radio 2 500 words competition this year, representing Neston.
Several Key Stage Three classes participated in the live lesson broadcast back in January, followed by a series of lessons from their English teachers to inspire pupils to write creatively on a topic of their choice. Pupils gave peer feedback to one another on the categories of enjoyment, originality and plot. There were some unique and inspiring stories which were enjoyed by all.
Although we had some fantastic entries this year from Neston, we were up against 135, 000 entrants! However we are very proud of all of our Neston creative writers and would encourage them to refine their entries over the summer break in preparation for our Neston Key Stage Three Creative Writing Competition in September.
Interestingly, the most frequent recurring word from the 135, 000 entries was the word “plastic,” as opposed to last year’s, “Trump!”
I wonder what next year’s word will be…
