Neston Students Win Mental Health and Wellbeing Project Award
Having applied and been selected to become Mental Health First Aiders, eight year 12 students successfully completed a two day training programme lead by CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services). Since completing the training Kate, Will, Jacob, Jack, Paisley, Erin, Adele and Morgan have offered drop in sessions to students at Neston in the lunch breaks and have lead assemblies and parent information evenings to raise awareness of the need to look after our Mental Health.
After being nominated for the West Cheshire Youth and Community Awards 2018, the students along with Mrs Lacey, Miss Crilly, Mr Dool, Mrs Hudson and their parents were invited to attend the award ceremony at the Forest Hills Hotel on Thursday 29th March. It was a humbling evening with children and adults from across the county who has taken part in outstanding projects and service to their communities and we were delighted that our students were the winners of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Project. The MHFA students won the award because the council ‘wanted to hear from a project that has listened to the needs of young people, working innovatively and creatively to support emotional health and wellbeing.’
May I pass on my congratulations to all eight sixth form students for their outstanding work.
