Our Year 7 Challenge Cup Winner 2017

Wesley Ellis has been recognised for his outstanding efforts in English.

Our Year 7 Challenge Cup Winner 2017

Wesley has been awarded the ‘Year 7 Sheila McCann Challenge Trophy’ for his fantastic work in the Summer Challenge booklet, which all Year 7s were encouraged to complete before they started at Neston High School in September.

Wesley had worked incredibly hard during the summer and explained why he believed Rick Riordan should be chosen as Patron Writer for English at Neston High School. Wesley’s brilliant work was judged and chosen as the deserving winner by three English teachers who have joined our department this year: Miss Kirby, Mrs Cavanagh and Mrs Roberts.

They said: “Wesley’s piece was the deserving winner and really demonstrated his passion for reading.”

Wesley wrote: “Rick Riordan’s books are best sellers and two of the Percy Jackson books have been turned into blockbuster movies; his writing style is exciting and his books are accessible to young people.”

It was a pleasure for the English Department to witness Miss Lee and Mr Dool present Wesley with his trophy and book voucher.

Thank you to all Year 7 students who worked extremely hard during the summer to complete their English challenge and congratulations for a brilliant start to your time at Neston.
