Bank of England Speaker

We were delighted to welcome Suzanne Maddock an analyst in the Technology Department at The Bank of England, to Neston High School on 5th December.

Suzanne spoke to a large group of our ICT and Computing students about the role of the bank and how technology is vital to the critical systems that support the Bank's key functions. She also gave a brief resume of her career route in to and through the organisation.  It was fascinating to learn about the UK gold store at the bank and the way technology is used to buy and sell the gold as well as maintain the security of it.  Suzanne did not have a typical career path in to The Bank of England.  She used to be an actress on ‘The Bill’.  Suzanne was very keen to be part of the bank’s initiative to get in to schools and provide more information about what they do, especially as she grew up in New Brighton and so visiting Neston was a bit like ‘coming home’.  The students were really grateful that Suzanne gave up her time to visit us and provide us with so much information.
